About me
The path to videography has been Guilherme Henriques’ destiny. From an early age, the Portuguese native has always been an observer, taking in the world and finding beauty and art within everything around him. “The seventh art” has always called to him even before he realized it, leading him to true artistic freedom and liberation.
Henriques’ foray into creating mind-bending music videos could be traced back nearly two decades with the debut of Rammstein’s 2004 opus, ‘Reise Reise.’ Upon laying eyes on the visually intense music videos for “Mein Teil” and “Keine Lust,” the burgeoning teen recognized and admired the band’s boundary pushing ethos. Whether he realized it at the time or not, those controversial video moments had a long-lasting impact, steering him gently towards an artistic career.
However, the music industry was not Henriques’ primary goal as he entered Universidade Lusófona do Porto to study Arts and Cinema. Initially, he set out to work within television or the scarce Portuguese music industry, but the stars aligned and he ended up exactly where he belongs - behind a camera creating boundary-defying music videos for some of the biggest record labels and artists within the extreme metal genre.
After creating his first official music video in 2015 for Belphegor’s “Black Winged Torment,” the name Guilheme Henriques has become a standard in the music industry. The Portuguese visionary has worked for major labels and festivals such as Season of Mist, Napalm Records, Century Media, Sony Music, Inferno Metal Festival and so many others while becoming a mainstay for bands like Moonspell, Crippled Black Phoenix, Der Weg einer Freiheit, and of course, his own band, Gaerea, who have become known for their outstanding visuals.
Henriques is a force who keeps growing and evolving, which is evident in the seemingly endless slew of music videos that he cranks out almost effortlessly. As digital media becomes capital in this rapidly evolving industry, Henriques is here to assist bands who are looking to take their visuals to the next level as he continues to welcome new clients and new challenges.
